Sinas Dramis answers your legal questions about personal injury claim time limits – WILX

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – This week on the Legal Answer, Lansing personal injury attorney Katie Tucker from Sinas Dramis Law Firm, joins us to answer a viewer question, about personal injury claim time limits. Legal Answer viewer Sabrina contacted the Legal Answer and asked the following question:
Q: Is there a statute of limitations for pursuing a personal injury claim?
Answer: If you’re injured in a motor vehicle crash, there are two time limits you want to keep in mind:
· The One-Year-Back Rule – This applies to claims for no-fault benefits, like medical benefits, wage loss, and survivor benefits. It requires you to file a lawsuit within one year of the date the expense occurred. Failure to do so could bar you from pursuing those claims.
· Three Year Statute of Limitations – This refers to claims for bodily injury liability. If you don’t’ file the claim within three years, you’ll be barred from ever being able to pursue this type of claim.
Katie is a shareholder at Sinas Dramis and specializes in Michigan Auto No-Fault Law. Katie has vast experience representing people in auto negligence cases for injuries or deaths in crashes involving motor vehicles, semi-trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles.
