Philadelphia, PA (February 19, 2024) – A serious fire broke out in northern Philadelphia on Monday, February 19, resulting in the dispatch of a number of fire rescue teams and EMTs who assessed a handful of injured people at the scene.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at a two-story residence near the junction of Lambert Street and Stella Street. Police say heavy flames erupted from the first floor of the building, and firefighters were still working to extinguish the blaze into the evening hours. Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire and have not said how many people were hurt or hospitalized as a result of the blaze. No further details have been released, but an inquiry into the fire remains ongoing in the interim.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery.
There is always the risk of a house fire anywhere in the Keystone State. Residential and commercial structures alike are common targets of these occurrences. While many fires are quickly contained, some cause extensive damage and even loss of life.
According to the data, there were over 1,300,000 fires in the United States over the last year. Approximately 3,500 individuals lost their lives, and well over 15,000 were severely injured as a result of these incidents. Most victims of flames suffer from smoke inhalation and burns, two of the most painful injuries imaginable.
